Holy Week and Easter at St. Peter’s

Palm Sunday, March 24. Services at 8:00 AM and at 10:30 AM with liturgy of the palms and a dramatic reading of the passion narrative.

Tenebrae, Wednesday, March 27, 5:30 PM. This year’s service of Scriptural and Non-Scriptural readings and music traces that shadowy time between Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, which is celebrated on Palm Sunday, and his gathering with his disciples on Thursday evening, which we call Maundy Thursday. Those days were marked by confrontation, confusion, and mounting tension.

Maundy Thursday, March 28, 5:30 PM. Maundy Thursday Eucharist with music and choir, footwashing, stripping of the altar, and veneration of the sacrament in the chapel.

Good Friday, March 29. We will have two services: Stations of the Cross at noon and Choral Good Friday Liturgy at 5:30 PM with veneration of the cross and Eucharist from the reserved sacrament.

Great Vigil of Easter, Saturday, March 30, 7:00 PM at St. John Baptist Church, Thomaston. St. Peter’s parishioners join with those from other Episcopal and Lutheran churches in this festive first Eucharist of Easter.

Easter Sunday Festival Celtic Eucharist at 8:00 AM and Choral Eucharist at 10:30 AM. Each service will be followed by a reception.

Easter Community Meal. The meal will begin at 12:30 PM.
